This was tough, other failed recordings brought me to total frustration, so I set them aside and just "went with it," writing and recording many of these tracks in utter immediacy, ad-libbing whole verses (Aimless Love for example) as I was recording. There is fire and pain and faith and fun all rolled together (just the way I like it.)
Uptempo worship, no bones about it, "Joyfull Noise" combines recordings from the "Short Happy Life" sessions and some demos into a decidedly un-ironic celebration of God and faith. For those John Brown University students who recognize "Not Alone," I actually did write that one...
Working under the alias "Herva" I spent WAAY too much time writing and recording and mixing this album. Starting with an electronic, almost dance-like canvas I stretched my horizons, but reeled it in with pop melodies and arrangements.
Released under the name Jamey Clay (long story), 6 songs, recorded in 2005, two of the songs are featured in web movies on Interview With God.com.
Features modern acoustic folk versions of the classic hymns "Nothing But The Blood" and "The Old Old Story."
The atmospheric "Breathe" with a batch of instrumentals behind it. The title track is a companion song to "On Your Side" and "Aimless Love" from "The Short Happy Life of Jamey Clayberg"
Recorded in one day on Feb. 29, 2008 on my laptop in the living room, "Leap Year" features stripped down, classical guitar and voice in the raw, pure form.
Demos and roughs that slipped through the cracks, this collection has a quiet sound and a raw texture. For some reason these tracks have stuck around on merit of their own, some emotion, or heart, or intangible appeal.
My first "official" album recorded in my parents garage while attending John Brown University. Recorded on a Tascam 4-track, this is some raw but interesting Jamey C, singing is rough, but there are some fun songs and creative moments. Features Chris Donato on the drums and Matt Pittner on keys.
